Ascension Day

From PathfinderWiki
This article covers the Caydenite holiday. For the Iomedaean holiday, see Ascendance Day. For the Norgorberite holiday, see Ascendance Night.

Much like the god to whom it is dedicated, the Caydenite holiday of Ascension Day (sometimes called Ascendance Day1) is generally celebrated in a very informal style. Occurring annually on 11 Kuthona,23 it commemorates the day Cayden Cailean passed the Test of the Starstone and ascended to godhood3 in 2765 AR. The exact date on which Cayden Cailean's ascension occurred is unknown,3 and since the god was dead drunk when it happened, it will probably never be known.[citation needed]

Celebration

Celebrating Ascension Day generally involves toasting one another with a hot alcoholic beverage, thanking the Drunken Hero for what he has provided, and eating plenty of sweet pastries.4563

Relationship with other holidays

Followers of Asmodeus also mark that god's slaying of his brother Ihys on 11 Kuthona as the Day of Order. That the date is shared with Ascension Day is not considered to be coincidental.2
