Catafalque

From PathfinderWiki

The Catafalque, located in Nessus, is the heart of Hell and the extradimensional1 personal home of Asmodeus.23

Contents

No mortal or immortal being other than Asmodeus has ever viewed its interior, leaving its contents up for conjecture and rumor. Unreliable tales told about the divine realm's interior include:

  • It is a perfectly and massively spherical paradise solely for Asmodeus' use23
  • It contains the bones of Ihys, the brother Asmodeus murdered during the Age of Creation, in permanent stasis23
  • It long, and until recently, contained the Ihystear, the remnant shard of the spear that killed Ihys45
  • It is the workshop of Asmodeus' greatest evil act yet to be perpetrated on the multiverse, so odious that all of reality would rebel against him if it were exposed23

Geography

The Catafalque is the navigational node of Hell, and those attempting to navigate the plane can use tools such as an astralabe or ring of planar focus to orient themselves as they would with a magnetic compass on Golarion.6 Navigational references to the Catafalque refer to it directionally as "Pitward".7
