Category talk:Images of architectural structures
Naming (RESOLVED)
User:Rexert, aside from gender-specific language concerns, even simply expanding "man-made" to "human-made" in a fantasy setting is fraught. Some notable permanent structures weren't made by anyone (Castle Everstand, spontaneously created from wish magic), some aren't made by humans or humanoids (most structures on elemental planes, Hive Izt Sixt'Zym built by non-humanoid d'ziriaks).
Wikimedia Commons uses Category:Architectural structures, which it defines as "human-designed and -made structure ... which includes buildings and non-building structures, which are not designed for continuous human occupancy". The category and its subcategories encompass buildings (including residences), infrastructure, portable structures, city blocks, camps, docks, mines, ports, gardens, cemeteries/gravesites/tombs, bridges, monuments, fortresses, and walls.
That seems parallel to what appears to be your intent here: intentionally created, artificial structures. -Oznogon (talk) 16:15, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
(A similar line of thought is also maybe overdue for application to Category:Locations and especially Category:Buildings, and for defining Map point types and iconography in a consistent manner, making this a broader subject worth discussing before enacting rapdily and en masse.
