Ectoplasm is a supernatural material associated with the Ethereal Plane. Ectoplasm acts as a medium through which spirits from the Ethereal Plane can interact with the Universe.

Appearance

Ectoplasm has been described as ghostly, slimy linen, dripping goo, and occasionally like flesh and blood.

Properties

Ectoplasm is strongly influenced by the emotions of spirits within the Ethereal Plane. Solidified ectoplasm weighs twice as much as an equivalent amount of living matter. The phantoms of spiritualists manifest through ectoplasm.

Magical use

Those with special training can harvest ectoplasm to use as materials in necromantic or enchanting magical implements and spells.

Small vials of dried ectoplasm can be imbued with magical energy to create ghost dust talismans. These magic items can be affixed to armor and activated to make their user invisible, functioning similarly to a medium invisibility spell.
