Giant dragonflies are predators of warm-blooded creatures, including humanoids, and uncommon among giant insects. They are giant relatives of the common dragonfly and unrelated to dragonkind.1

Abilities

Like their smaller common counterparts, giant dragonflies can fly with exceptional speed and precision, and can dart forward to grab or bite prey and just as easily dart back out of trouble.1

Ecology

Giant dragonflies lair in wild and woody areas under the cover of local foliage, either solitary or in flights of up to five. They prefer fresh prey but will feed on carrion if necessary.1

They reproduce by laying eggs in swamps or standing water. Their young are known as giant dragonfly nymphs, are aquatic and cannot fly, and feed on dead or small prey until they grow into adulthood and sprout wings.1
