Insects are a type of animal often associated with vermin¹ with a wide diversity of body plans and ecological niches. All insects have a chitinous exoskeleton, six legs, and compound eyes.²

Mitflits have a strong connection to insects, and giant insects can often be found in mitflit lairs.³

Morlocks are known to employ mining beetles to burrow through underground obstacles though, due to the morlocks' carelessness, many beetles simply escape.⁴
