Professor Radpol,1 also spelled Radpole,2 is an intellectual and visionary gnome alchemist3 and engineer1 in Alkenstar City. He conducts his amazing research projects in the Unburdened Tower.3

Background

Radpol arrived to Alkenstar from unknown parts decades ago to study clockworks as part of his efforts to stave off the Bleaching. He quickly earned the exclusive patronage of Grand Duchess Ricia.4 He is also renowned for repurposing Nexian artifacts through modern engineering practices.1

Projects

Radpol is most famous for redesigning the Tinwound Hydroplant to include water filtration and distillation, turning it from a power plant that served only Alkenstar's powerful to a public utility for all of its citizens.1

In 4710 AR, the famed professor created his miraculous contraption, the Blackwork Ephemeron, for the Grand Duchess Trietta Ricia. The Blackwork Ephemeron guards the raised bailey of Alkenstar Castle.25 As of 4721 AR the Ephemeron was his last public work, and as the professor makes no public appearances nor publishes academic works, he has never refuted claims that the Ephemeron is an illusion.4

Companions

Radpol's work to purify the Ustradi River's waters revived the naiad queen Ustrasila, the river's sole water spirit to survive the horrors that formed the Mana Wastes. She in turn became Radpol's muse for his inventions.6
