Talk:Demigod
Housekeeping
This article used to state "Below is a list of the known types of demigods:", which seemed like an overly bold claim to me, so I edited it to "a list of some of the known types of". How many known demigod categories aren't on this list? --Descriptivist (talk) 13:22, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- Precisely defining "demigod" was easier in First Edition when it was meaningful mechanically (see also {{Demigod status assumed}}). Mechanical distinctions are heavily de-emphasized in Second Edition and might be further de-emphasized over time. Whatever you decide to use as a definition, document it, use it consistently, be prepared to change it since some of the properties fundamentally ambiguous and the canon around divine powers are in active flux from ongoing canon events, and recognize when changes represent an implied change from First Edition canon so those users aren't left out. -Oznogon (talk) 16:48, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
Moreover, the list seemed wildly out of alphabetical order, and it was difficult to discern if the article's navboxes had been placed in any intended order. I alphabetized the list, and I spitballed trying to sort the first five navboxes in alignment order and the latter five navboxes in alphabetical order (alphabetizing the Dark Tapestry navbox by its display name "Elder Mythos") for now; anyone with better ideas could try to correct the navboxes' order further.
Notably, the qlippoth lords navbox has been at the bottom of this article for years, but qlippoth lords do not have an entry in the "Known demigods" list. Should qlippoth lords be added? Or should the navbox be removed? It seems they can grant four domains. Daemonic harbingers can also grant four domains; should they be added to the known demigods list?
Lastly, this article currently does not auto-expand its Elder Mythos navbox. Should we set |greatoldone as the navbox's expansion target? --Descriptivist (talk) 13:22, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
