Talk:Undarin/Conflicts
Position
Published maps conflict on which confluence of rivers or riverbeds Undarin is located near.
- The map on The Worldwound inside front cover positions Undarin on the Sarkora River, at the confluence of river and the Rolling Riverbed and east of a large plateau that splits the Sarkora River from the unlabeled West Sarkora River. The city map on The Worldwound 11 depicts the Sarkora River running through the middle of the city, and a small stream converging from the east past the Widowknife Clanhold. This position is consistent with the map of Sarkoris ca. 4600 AR on Lost Kingdoms 49.
- The text of The Worldwound 12 (Undarin) and 13 (Widowknife Clanhold) describe the dry riverbed that enters Undarin from the east as being the Rolling River's.
- King of Chaos is set in part in Undarin.
- The abstract map in King of Chaos depicts neither confluence, does not depict the West Sarkora River, and suggests Undarin is located on the Sarkora River.
- King of Chaos 177–178 describes the protagonists approaching Undarin, crossing a dry riverbed on "the other side of the plateau" consistent with The Worldwound's description of the Rolling River.
- King of Chaos 199–200 describes the protagonists viewing Undarin, particularly the Widowknife Clanhold, near "a wide ravine that had been a river before the Worldwound", consistent with depictions of Undarin and the Rolling Riverbed in The Worldwound.
- The map on World Guide 25 and the World Guide poster map, and other works that use this map, places Undarin further south, at the confluence of the unlabled West Sarkora River and the Sarkora River. The plateau depicted west of Undarin in The Worldwound is north of Undarin in World Guide.
The World Guide map's location is the more recent and higher-tier source, but The Worldwound, Lost Kingdoms, and King of Chaos are more specific and detailed. This is a significant and unresolvable conflict barring an official canon clarification. -Oznogon (talk) 01:38, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
