Talk:Xulgath

From PathfinderWiki

Move

According to Bestiary (2E) p.336, the exonym troglodyte is being mostly depreciated and replaced by the endonym xulgath in 2E:

xulgaths (known as troglodytes to many surface-dwelling folk)

The above is the only time the word troglodyte is used in this book. Furthermore, according to Legacy of the Lost God p.62, the creatures known as xulgaths in 1E (as described in Occult Bestiary) are now known as thoughtmaws:

a thoughtmaw, a xulgath with a spark of the latent psychic power that once defined their species

If there's no comment in the next two weeks, I'll assume that it is acceptable to rename this article to xulgath and xulgath to thoughtmaw, and make relevant changes to other articles. - HTD (talk) 09:40, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

This makes sense HTD. Please ensure that the change doesn't confuse 1E players though and, if it's done, tie up all the ancillary elements, like creature categories, 'Category:Images of...', Races of Golarion navbox too. I think in the end:
  • Trogs would redirect to xulgath;
  • xulgath would take the info from trog today, 2E additions, a ref to the use of trog and xulgath names, & a ref to xulgath used for thoughtmaws;
  • thoughtmaws would have the 2E info, plus the 1E xulgath material, and a ref to the use of the word xulgath to mean thoughtmaws.
  • I'd place a explanatory footnote on each page for clarity.
Make sense? --Fleanetha (talk) 11:50, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
This has mostly been done now. I have also hidden a paragraph which seems to be overly hasty generalisations from the individual incidents presented by the source. - HTD (talk) 13:29, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
all looks good - thanks HTD. --Fleanetha (talk) 17:03, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
