Creature alignment
A cursory analysis of certain creatures will easily reveal that the alignment listed in their stat block only represents the average or most common alignment of these creatures, and does not fully reflect their real alignments:
- Angels in 1E are consistently listed as NG in their stat blocks, despite being described multiple times to be of any good alignment.
- The playable races that also appear as monsters in bestiaries (merfolk, androids, sylphs, among others) are always given a definite alignment, even if in practice NPCs of these races can span the entire grid (and in some cases, said alignment isn't even dominant, especially when it's N).
As it currently stands, some pages are listing the alignment as described in lore (like angel and related pages), and others simply copy it from the stat block without any changes (like lizardfolk). This will most likely need some sort of standardisation (I'm in favour of the first thing). - HTD (talk) 16:17, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
I am for only including the alignment if it is an inherent part of their being. This should mostly concern outsiders. Angels are per definition any type of good or they are no longer angels, i think. - Virenerus (talk) 16:21, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
Update |1e name [CONCLUDED]
As per the related discussion at PathfinderWiki talk:Naming conventions, can I suggest we rename here and throughout the wiki the 1E-name parameter to |alt-name, so it has more general use. The help text will also need updating for the parameter too. Thanks --Fleanetha (talk) 12:14, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
No, abandon that. Oz has come up with a better idea of removing 1E-name parameter entirely and moving any data in that field into the name parameter, separated by <br>symbols. Moving discussion to Discord as involves more than this template.--Fleanetha (talk) 17:33, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- I believe that the 1E-name parameter has not been removed, and this br guideline has not been documented? --Descriptivist (talk) 21:09, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
Augur example
The documentation provides an example statblock, the augur velstrac, but the example is confusing. It cited Tomorrow Must Burn as the statblock's source, so why did its traits field and alignment field not include the alignment as listed in Tomorrow Must Burn? Does PFWiki have a policy of, even when citing legacy sources, not listing alignment/{2eTrait}s as was listed in the named source? If there exists a policy to never use 2E's alignment parameter, then line 61 should document that like "Only in the 1E-alignment parameter, use the {{Alignment grid}} template to indicate the creature's usual alignments. In 2E, infobox alignment should always be made blank." --Descriptivist (talk) 21:09, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
