An animated statue is a sculpture animated to seem alive. As such, their appearances can vary wildly, though most resemble humanoid beings. They are often installed as guardians of sites, or guardian statues,1 where their form as a statue provides them with camouflage among other inert sculptures;2 These traps are so effective that adventurers sometimes smash priceless relics out of fear that they might come to life.2

Giant animated statue

A giant animated statue often serves the same role as a more powerful golem,3 making them somewhat redundant and relatively rare.2
