Giant bone skipper
(Creature)
Bone skippers are a species of giant fly that feed on animal carcasses.1
Appearance
Bone skippers resemble flies with blue bodies, bright orange heads and red eyes.1
Ecology
Bone skippers feed on decomposing flesh, and are particularly attracted to bone marrow. Large carcasses can house large swarms of these insects, which burrow within them to reach their bones and whose movements make the dead bodies twitch and move as if alive. Bone skippers are particularly common in areas inhabited by megafauna such as elephants and teraphants, whose carcasses provide an ample source of food. Bone skipper swarms may also inhabit large undead, such as zombie hulks.1
Variants
Giant bone skippers are a rare variety that can surpass a human in size.1
