Category talk:Images of alicorns

From PathfinderWiki

Deletion?

I don't understand the need to delete this category as there is a specific alicorn image already in it. I also am unsure why the unicorn picture has been added here, as it is fine in the parent category. Finally, I don't understand the rationale: 'anatomical feature of all unicorns, no separated images exist.' Rexert, could you help me out here please! --Fleanetha (talk) 11:50, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]

According to Unicorn, an "alicorn" is the canonical name of a unicorn's horn. At least, that is what the main page of this category redirects to, and therefore it's similar to creating a category called "Images of horse hooves" or "Images of dog tails". The web source listed in the alicorn image also doesn't appear to exist anymore to clarify this further.
However, now that I research it further, AoN lists a creature also called an alicorn that is a rare transformation of a unicorn. So the category doesn't need to be deleted after all and an editing error was responsible for the mix up, my bad. --Rexert (talk) 11:59, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Cheers Rexert - that's all clear - thanks for the research. --Fleanetha (talk) 12:40, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]
If or when we do need a category for unicorn horns, I'd rather it be "Images of unicorn horns", because Howl of the Wild in particular has made the term "alicorn" hopelessly ambiguous with regard to horns. -Oznogon (talk) 15:29, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]
