Under Chelaxian rule, Deepmar hosted a small penal colony known as Deepmar Penal Colony, where the prisoners mined crystals useful as arcane reagents. The prison camps were abandoned before Ravounel's secession in the Kintargan Rebellion, and the new government has let them remain so.2
