This article covers a topic relevant to Pathfinder First Edition. For the Pathfinder Second Edition equivalent, see consecrate.

Desecrate is a divine spell that imbues a small area with negative energy. Undead that are created or summoned within the area are more powerful (as are undead who simply enter the area), and they have an easier time resisting a cleric's positive channeled energy. If the area contains a shrine dedicated to the caster's deity, the effects of the spell are doubled. If cast on an area previously consecrated to a different deity, the spell severs the god's connection to it. Desecrate also counters the spell consecrate.1[citation needed]
