Ganderhal was a wizard of shadow magic who trained at Dusk Hall in Pangolais several centuries ago. His rivalry with a fellow student, Zonotha, eventually resulted in his death and rise as a vengeful shadow.[1]

Ganderhal is a gaunt shadow with red eyes and a pale blonde beard.[1]

Ganderhal and his rival Zonotha were both from aristocratic families, both trained at Nidal's Dusk Hall, and both founded lairs in the Menador Mountains for their experiments with shadow magic and immortality through undeath and lichdom.[1]

Between the two, Ganderhal failed: Zonotha achieved lichdom first and killed Ganderhal before he could complete his ritual. Ganderhal instead rose as a shadow to seek his revenge, refashioned his lair into a labyrinthine trap filled with undead creations, and compiled an extensive library of information on liches. Nearby worshipers of Iomedae and Sarenrae in Andoran grow increasingly concerned about his power.[1]
