Amanda Hamon, the author or co-author of dozens of Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and other RPG titles, joined Paizo Inc. full-time as an assistant developer on April 1, 2015.1 She left Paizo in July of 2020 to work for Kobold Press as Editorial Director.2

Work at Paizo

Amanda was promoted to developer less than a year later. In May 2017, Amanda was named Paizo's development coordinator, and in that role she worked on the development of Paizo's RPG products in addition to her management duties at the company.

In 2018, Amanda was named Managing Developer for the Starfinder RPG to manage the Starfinder Organized Play developer, Starfinder Adventure Path developers, Starfinder senior developer, and Starfinder lead designer, in addition to developing and creating content for the game. Amanda is a co-creator of the Starfinder RPG and was a member of its core design team.3

Freelance work

Amanda's freelance RPG design, development, and editing work for third-party publishers has netted her two ENnie Awards: for Deep Magic4 and the Southlands campaign setting,5 both published through Kobold Press and for which she served as lead developer and editor as well as a designer.

Leaving Paizo

On July 7, 2020, Paizo announced that Amanda was leaving Paizo to rejoin Kobold Press as Editorial Director. Adam Daigle led a long list of valedictory well-wishers from Paizo, which was published in the Paizo Blog.2

Background

In addition to waxing nerdy about fantasy worldbuilding traditions and theory, Amanda has spoken extensively about intersectional feminism in relation to gaming.

Amanda has previously written, developed, and designed under the byline Amanda Hamon Kunz.
