As of 4712 AR, Lord Hobart Deverin was the aging leader of House Deverin in the city of Magnimar. His willingness to mingle with the city's common folk earned him the derogatory nickname of "the Simple Lord", but he bears that title with pride. Lord Deverin had been fighting a recurring fever in 4712 AR, and many folk believed he was not long for this world,2 but he was still issuing decrees as a commissioner of Magnimar's Council of Ushers as of 5 Calistril 4715 AR.3
Hobart's niece, Kendra Deverin, has found success as the mayor of nearby Sandpoint, a fact of which he is proud.2
