Imaloka Ghalmont-Neverhome
Imaloka Ghalmont-Neverhome was a Sarkorian socialite and the mistress of the pleasure palace known as the House of Reflections. Since the Worldwound opened, she and her final guests have haunted its ruins as undead.1
Relatives
Imaloka was born in Storasta to retired elven adventurers Merania and Telderal Ghalmont, and grew up with the tales of their adventures. When she was a few decades old, they left Imaloka in the care of local humans to fight a green dragon that has been terrorising the nearby area, never to return. After a few years, Imaloka was adopted into her human family.1
Background
After watching several generations of her adopted family dying of old age, Imaloka left Storasta for the Sarkorian Steppe to live a shallow, decadent life, without having to watch any more loved ones die. When she came across the First Rains, she decided that these two lakes were magnificent enough to inspire her future guests and remote enough for both Sarkorians and foreigners. With the wealth inherited from her parents, Imaloka commissioned the construction of the House of Reflections, a floating pleasure barge never seen before in Sarkoris.1
For almost two centuries, Imaloka hosted some of the most decadent galas north of Oppara, attracting guests from as far as Cheliax and Jalmeray. Once per year, she hosted a Locked-In Ball, whose invitations were magically encrypted against forgery and trade, ensuring that only the invited were allowed access. During such a gathering, the House of Reflections was locked for two weeks, and no one was allowed to enter or leave.1
When the Worldwound opened during such a Locked-In Ball, Imaloka had her servants tighten the House of Reflections' security to ensure the safety of herself and her guests. When the ball ended, she maintained the lockdown, proclaiming that no one would be allowed to leave. The guests quickly grew angry and demanded her to release them, but she only grew more and more tyrannical in enforcing the lockdown. When Imaloka killed a Taldan duchess as she tried to escape through an upper-storey window, the rest of the guests were pushed into open revolt. In doing so, they accidentally caused the House of Reflections to sink, drowning everyone within.12
In the century since then, Imaloka was twisted into a banshee, either by her own wrath or by Abyssal energies, while her guests became dybbuks. Even the demons avoid the House of Reflections, for Imaloka rules over it with an iron fist and allows no one who enters to leave.23
