Citadel of the Weary Sky
The Citadel of the Weary Sky, formerly known as the Jaizun Citadel, is a mysterious and enigmatic historical site located in the realm of Rahadoum. It holds a significant place in the history of the Jistka Imperium, a once-powerful empire known for its mastery of elemental magic and extraplanar conjurations.12
History
The citadel's history is deeply intertwined with the ancient Jistka Imperium. Originally, it was one of the many grand fortresses used by the Jistkan elementalists and conjurers. These mages summoned a wide array of genies and elementals to enhance their armies.23
During these rituals, a peculiar interaction transpired between the summoned creatures and an unidentified natural phenomenon, leading to the distortion of reality itself in the vicinity of the citadel. The sky above the Jaizun Citadel became a tumultuous cauldron of elemental energies, and conjuration magic ceased to function reliably. Confused by the phenomenon, the Jistkan elementalists eventually abandoned the citadel, relocating to another similar fortress.1 Many of these elementalists settled in a nearby fortress in the Napsune Mountains that became known as Deep Sky.2
The abandoned citadel became a focal point for a cataclysmic event when it attracted the malevolent attention of Ahriman, the Lord of the Divs. In their conflict with the Jistka Imperium, Ahriman turned his destructive powers against this citadel, making it a symbolic target of his wrath. With a surge of near-indescribable might, Ahriman tore a rift in the fabric of reality. Elemental chaos was unleashed resulting in turbulent phenomena, such as acidic fog banks, electrical storms, scorching winds, and downpours of black rain and hail.1
The relentless onslaught battered and shattered the citadel, while the surrounding landscape withered in response to Ahriman's fury. Despite the valiant efforts of the remaining wizards and conjurers stationed at the citadel, it succumbed to the destructive forces. After a week of unrelenting turmoil, the citadel vanished from existence, leaving behind only a crater of devastated earth.1
