Melqart Keep

From PathfinderWiki

Melqart Keep lies at the heart of the Citadel Ba'al, one of the greatest fortresses in the multiverse, and is the personal domain of the archdevil Moloch.1

Structure

Melqart Keep is massive in a way mortal minds can barely imagine, its iron bulk rising up into the ashen skies of Malebolge beyond the limits of human sight. Within the keep are parade grounds, training area, military libraries, and countless strategy halls, one for every planet that any devil has ever visited.1

Defenses

Melqart Keep is guarded by titanic siege weapons, lethal traps, and uncountable legions of cornugon devils. Moloch strives endlessly to improve the defenses of his already impregnable fortress.1 The fortress is also the centre of command for the malebranche, where Moloch dispatches their orders and commissions.2

Eye of Ba'al

At the keep's centre lies arguably the multiverses's most heavily guarded location, the chamber of the Eye of Ba'al.1

Through the Eye of Ba'al, Moloch can perceive every layer of Hell and command every devil in existence, providing Moloch with an unmatched tactical perspective of all the Pit's wars. Countless wars across the multiverse would be disrupted if this chamber were to fall, making Melqart Keep one of the most tempting targets for Heaven's crusading armies.1

Szuriel, the Angel of Desolation and Rider of War, is among the few non-devils to ever visit the Eye of Ba'al. The result of the visit is unknown, but the event occurred without objection from either the Apocalypse Riders or Asmodeus, suggesting that it was to the benefit of both Hell and Abaddon.3
