Retcons

Tian Xia World Guide (TXWG) retroactively changes aspects of Jinin's origins, their revelation to the outside world, and their culture.

  • While remaining a shogunate and culturally influenced by Minkai, Jinin is now depicted as retaining most of its pre-Earthfall elven culture and is also influenced by other Tian cultures. Their introduction to Minkaian explorers only leads to the opening of diplomacy and not the wholesale appropriation of Minkian culture.
  • Because the Pathfinder Remaster retroactively removed the drow from the Pathfinder campaign setting, the history of Jinin in TXWG describes the elves who remained in the Darklands merely as being "not heard from again". Jininsiel never learns the fate of these elves. Jininese culture likewise retains no influence from the fall of the drow as part of their previous depictions' use of rigidly moralistic codes as a means of defending against corruption.
  • The chapter on Jinin does not mention samurai at all. Instead of strict moralistic codes, TXWG describes a culture of natural balance and mutual aid. Swordfighting remains significant but is also called out as a cultural stereotype.
  • Jininese religion is depicted as retaining faiths in pre-Earthfall Avistani deities, including those of the elven pantheon.
  • Jinin's culture is depicted as being less exclusionary and reclusive, with descriptions of visitors eating Jininese food and visiting Jinin's settlements. Nightswallow's Rest is introduced as a human border settlement that is vital to Jinin's defense, but through threat assessment rather than closed borders.
  • TXWG retroactively renames the Mithral Roots to the Silver Tree, and the title of leadership from shogun to cathdaran.

The nation also undergoes an in-universe leadership change from Jininsiel Ryuikiatsu to Jininsiel Ikanthi.
