Monitor lizards, and also giant monitor lizards, are large lizards sometimes mistaken for dragons.

Appearance

Monitor lizards can grow up to 10 feet in length, weighing upwards of 350 pounds. Giant monitor lizards can grow up to 14 feet long and weigh up to 350 pounds.

Shiv dragon

A variant of the monitor lizard known as a shiv dragon has reportedly been seen on the small island of Smuggler's Shiv in Desperation Bay, off the coast of Vidrian. These dark-brown beasts are known to be highly territorial and aggressive, and are almost always encountered singly.
