Strong-Arm Hix is an old beggar who lives in Quent in the Shackles. He has no legs; he claims to have lost them fifty years ago in the Cannibal Isles. According to Hix, he was part of the crew of the Spindrift Reaver. They landed on the Isles, and all the crew were captured by savage kuru cannibals. All except Hix were eaten alive as a sacrifice to a deity the kuru called the Blood Queen. Hix escaped in a canoe, but lost his legs to the cannibals in the process.
