Sun Scarab Siege

From PathfinderWiki

The Sun Scarab Siege of 1542 AR1 was one of the many failed sieges of Absalom. It was staged by Menedes XXVII, pharonic pretender to Osirion, from the memorial ziggurat he constructed a few miles from Absalom known as Sun Scarab's Keep.2

Background

A man claiming to be the uncrowned Menedes XXVII, successor to the Fallen Pharaoh Menedes XXVI who was deposed by Keleshite forces in 1532 AR, arrived to Absalom in 1542 AR and purchased land on which to build a monument to his disgraced ancestors. The ziggurat, later named Sun Scarab's Keep, was constructed several miles away within sight of the city and was initially considered an innocuous event. However, Menedes XXVII subsequently demanded that Absalom aid in reclaiming Osirion from Qadira, and when the city declined he opened the ziggurat's gates and unleashed a plague of spirits and sand upon Absalom.2

Outcome

The First Guard of Absalom defeated Menedes XXVII's forces and killed him.2 Sun Scarab's Keep fell into ruin and disuse.3

Legacy

The First Guard used the ruined tower as a forward base in its defense against Tar-Baphon's siege in 4719 AR.3
