This article covers the Alara'hai sword of envy. For the runelord of envy, see Tannaris (person).

Tannaris, Sword of Envy is one of the Alara'hai, the Seven Swords of Sin. The magical bastard sword cycles through distinctive colours and textures, and dispels any magical effect on the creature it strikes. Tannaris is named after both the second runelord of envy, and his eldest son and bodyguard, the first wielder of the blade, both named Tannaris. After Runelord Tannaris and his son killed each other, one consciousness remained within the sword; it is unknown whether it belonged to the father or the son.1

Throughout the lifespan of Thassilon, various duplicates of the Sword of Envy surfaced, but the real Tannaris never left Xin-Edasseril. By the time of Earthfall, Tannaris was wielded by Xoxl, captain of the Emerald Guard, and champion of Runelord Belimarius.23
