Talk:Aethsan

There's not much about Aethsan but we have: '...the calling and command of a mighty belker named Aethsan. The powerful elemental now guards this chamber against all intruders.' I'd say that was a called, specific entity - a named creature of the species belker, so similar to calling a specific, named devil, rather like Gorthoklek, for instance. Thus I'd vote for a {{Person}} template rather than {{Creature}} and cats accordingly, so Belker/Inhabitants. --Fleanetha (talk) 12:36, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

I think this is a unique creature, but as a creature with no class levels, a lack of agency, and very little role in the story, it seems more appropriate as a unique creature. Within the module, it's little more than a powerful guard dog. -Oznogon (talk) 05:00, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
Hey Theriocephalus! There was already a discussion going on about its categorization. After some more thought, I'll leave it as a person infobox but restored the CR category because it's in the module, and the Unique creatures category because it still is one regardless of the infobox used. I'd be more on board with viewing Aethsan as a person, but as a creature with neither agency nor dialogue and no apparent further appearances in canon, it's tough to make that determination, and suggests that we should revisit our policies on named creatures like named animal companions and familiars, who are typically folded into their owner's article, especially when there's very little independent information about them (as is the case with Aethsan, and as I write this I realize I might actually be arguing for a merge with Yithdul—there honestly isn't anything else to add to this article, which amounts to an infobox and a single sentence). -Oznogon (talk) 21:59, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
