Talk:Dreamlands

Making a change, as I think this is just an area of Dimension of Dreams as per your categorization yesterday, rather than its own plane or demiplane? Apologies if incorrect and I'll revert if you tell me. I am purposefully keeping my reading of this AP to a minimum as I hope to play one day but now cat and page are consistent with one another. --Fleanetha (talk) 14:19, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

You are correct. The Dreamlands are just a section of the Dimension of Dreams. I don't know what I was thinking when I created those categories. --Brandingopportunity (talk) 17:20, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
Christmas? It's understandable. --Fleanetha (talk) 16:50, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

2E Updates

With the release of the 2E Pathfinder Gamemastery Guide, 'Dimension of Dreams' and 'Dreamlands' are now treated as synonyms, with some more clarification here:

It's mostly us focusing more on the Dreamlands as the primary place where adventures can take place, where PCs can visit as a group, and where monsters and things and lore can come from. My original push a decade ago was to handle it this way, but Occult Adventures took it in a different direction. While interesting, the way that book handled the Dimension of Dreams didn't really enable it as a place that things could come from or where adventures could happen, since dreamscapes were so fluid and morphable and temporary and varied that they didn't really work well as a firm foundation for us to build things upon..

Those dreamscapes still exist, but the focus of the content we'll actually be producing is going to be based on a dimension of dreams that is stable enough that it won't change completely the instant we publish a book about it.

Planar Adventures was the first course correction for this, and now that we've switched editions, it's the new norm.

Think of the Dimension of Dreams as being the Dreamlands as a stable core, with the infinite number of potential dreamscapes as "orbiting" the dreamlands.

The entire thing is called the Dimension of Dreams OR the Dreamlands.

This will probably necessitate a merge between these two articles. - HTD (talk) 05:46, 3 March 2020 (UTC)

If there's no comment in the next two weeks, I'll assume that it is acceptable to merge Dimension of Dreams to this article, and make relevant changes to other articles. - HTD (talk) 11:21, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks HTD for leading this and I have just made a few tweaks to your merge. The big job I can see outstanding is around the category structure where there is a rich subtree at Category:Dimension of Dreams and the articles therein. What is your plan for this re your comment above about 'make relevant changes to other articles'? --Fleanetha (talk) 10:55, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
I plan to change all instances of Dimension of Dreams within category names to Dreamlands (including subcategories), but I'm not quite comfortable with actually doing that yet. - HTD (talk) 13:24, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
OK, let me know if you need help or advice. --Fleanetha (talk) 14:14, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
