Talk:Noble houses of Cheliax
Necessary?
Even though I just created this page, I'm not completely convinced that it is really necessary. I at first just wanted to get rid of the long list on the main Cheliax page, but since we already have the Noble Houses of Cheliax template, I wonder if it's a bit redundant. What this page would ideally be suited for would be giving readers a quick introduction to the houses, with one or two sentences about each of them tops. What do others think? --Brandingopportunity (talk) 15:59, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
- Good point Brandingopportunity. Well you all know my opinion that if we have material in 2 places we'll never keep them both up to date. I think this was further proof looking at the additions to the template this afternoon? I think a page, per se, about the Noble Houses of Cheliax is valid, but we don't need these long lists on pages when we are now used to templates taking that data. Having said that, the templates can't take the 'one or two sentences about each of them' you mention (hmm, or is that true?!). However, looking at the page, many are red links, let alone one or two sentences. Maybe a compromise is a '...and here is a discussion of some of the more important and interesting houses...' section. That is, the section never claims to be comprehensive (that's the template's job) but does have pen portraits to illustrate the subject but redirecting to the House's page for more info?? Practically, that means deleting all the empty slots in the list and adding a comment about the section being just a few examples. What do others think? --Fleanetha (talk) 17:51, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
Lix family count as a noble house?
In Dark Archive (sourcebook) page 158 mentions the cursed Lix family as archbaron of Longmarch. Don’t know to much on how cheliax houses work, or if family is a synonym for noble house especially if they hold the title of archbaron? —Stejo (talk) 17:56, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- I've been going through every Westcrown source I have for mapping the city and no other canon work I have refers to the Lixes, nor does any work I have use the term "House Lix".
- The only other person with the title of "archbaron" that I can find is Darellus Fex. The Hellfire Compact and The Inferno Gate describe him as "archbaron of Longmarch", and also describe and specifically refer to House Fex. It therefore seems likely that a House Lix exists, but no canon work describes it as such. -Oznogon (talk) 19:17, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- They used the phrase the family is "... a Chelaxian archbaronial family hailing from the Archduchy of Longmarch."1 Agree not completely sure from just this line if this is a retcon of House Fex's name or Lix later replaced them. Not sure how they are involved in the events and cannon outcome of The Hellfire Compact and The Inferno Gate adventures. Probably have to keep eyes peeled for in future books. --Stejo (talk) 20:19, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- sorry about that I saw the words "archbaron of Longmarch", so assumed he was the archbaron probably like 9 years ago (based on how Paizo products published have Corresponding Absalom Reckoning dates for events in those products estimated from their publication date). —-Stejo (talk) 01:33, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
