The Yellow King is a fragment, a dream creature, of the personality of Haserton Lowls IV, which sloughed off and became an independent creature during Lowls' journey to the Dreamlands, and remained behind as he left. The Yellow King's memories of Lowls are incomplete: he remembers his original's academic research but not the last few years of Lowls' life, particularly the revelations that Abdul Alhazred made about Neruzavin. The Yellow King wears yellow robes and styles himself after Hastur, but is an awkward, insecure person despite his authoritative mien. When speaking to strangers, he is unnaturally talkative, quickly switches from topic to topic after a few minutes, and attempts to sound knowledgeable regarding the occult by using complex words, while belittling theories that contradict his own.1
