Zilm is an outcast salamander who runs a fire-themed restaurant in the city of Vialesk on the Plane of Water, which serves as a hangout for creatures who prefer to be warm and dry. He is suspected by some resident undines to be a spy from the Plane of Fire, but there is little evidence to support this rumour, due to Zilm's powerful unknown allies.
