An archelon is a giant relative of the leatherback sea turtle that grows up to 13 feet long and 16 feet wide, can weigh 5,000 pounds, and possesses a strong bite.1[citation needed]

Ecology

Female archelons lay their eggs in sandy beaches, preferably facing deep water and without coral reefs, and are highly territorial while nesting.2

Domestication

Archelons are often used as guards by coastal tribes and beasts of burden by aquatic beings such as athamarus,3 but make poor mounts due to their slow speed.1[citation needed]
