Ashkurhall is an ancient abandoned dwarven settlement in Mount Nakyuk, located in a jungle vale of the Mwangi Expanse known by as the Valley of Broken Blood. It was the subject of the final expedition by the Pathfinder Society Venture-Captain Nieford Sharrowsmith, which led to his death.12

History

Ashkurhall was founded by Sigrin, a scion of the dwarven Sky Citadel of Jormurdun lost to invasion around 1600 AR,3 who had led her people on an arduous journey through the Mwangi Expanse that had resulted in many of her kin's deaths. The city was founded around a gold vein beneath the mountain.4 Sigrin bore one of the five pieces of the Sky Key,5 an artifact from the wreckage of the Divinity that crashed near Jormurdun in the Rain of Stars.6

Structure

Ashkurhall is a small dwarven settlement dug into Mount Nakyuk.4 Its walls are carved with murals depicting the history of Jormurdun.7

Inhabitants

Eventually devastated by plague, Ashkurhall's dwarven survivors abandoned the settlement to join the nomadic Taralu dwarves, who had them abandon all ties to their pasts in order to adopt their culture.85

Around 4735 AR, the Nakyuk tribe of kobolds moved into the Ashkurhall,4 where they remained as of 4715 AR.4 These kobolds worshiped a gargoyle known as the Golden Guardian, who had inhabited the settlement since the time of Sigrin and her followers and remained there as a guardian as of 4715 AR.9

Pathfinders pursuing the pieces of the Sky Key and investigating Sharrowsmith's disappearance located the site of Ashkurhall around 4715 AR.10
