An elemental companion is an elemental creature with animal-level intelligence that is chosen as an adventuring aide, typically by druids of elemental druidic orders or by some rangers, but in uncommon cases elemental companions can bond with any class or person who would otherwise take an animal companion. Elemental companions include:1
- Air elementals, such as zephyr hawks
- Earth elementals, such as living boulders and sod hounds
- Fire elementals, such as cinder rats and lava otters
- Metal elementals, such as mercurials
- Water elementals, such as brine sharks
- Wood elementals, such as moss sloths
