Izera, the self-proclaimed Day Queen, is the mistress of the Wayhouse, a fey manor connected to the First World in the deserts of Rahadoum.1

Associates

Izera, after losing many of her old followers, has been forced to accept whomever she could recruit: dryads, grodairs, pixies, redcaps, and pugwampis among others. Of note are the dryad Gohar, the pech Mochelo, and the satyr Seneschal, her consort and second-in-command. The trickle of primal magic has also attracted feral fey and monsters to the collapsing Wayhouse to prey upon the careless.1

Background

Izera is a native of the Thoraso Desert, where she revelled in the sunlight and preyed upon lesser fey attracted to her. One day, the Eldest Ng tasked her with safeguarding a breachblade, an artifact capable of creating portals between the First World and the Material Plane, and offered her great authority and power until he returned to reclaim it.1

Using Ng's mandate and the breachblade's magic, Izera gathered a retinue of servants and came to enjoy her royal status. As she began to fear the day Ng would return to take away the breachblade and her power with it, Izera used it to bring her court to the Material Plane. She settled in Rahadoum, forced the desert to bloom with the magic leaking through the breach, and commanded her servants to build a pleasure palace.1

Without anyone to impress with her new home's majesty, Izera grew bored and made contact with a band of elves, allowing them passage through her portal in exchange for tribute. The elves accepted and built an aiudara just outside the Wayhouse.1

After less than a century, Ng returned to reclaim the breachblade. Izera attacked him, and when Ng retaliated, his spell shattered the breachblade, causing all poludnicas across the Material Plane to be bound hapless to the Ethereal Plane at night, only allowed to return to the Material Plane at dawn. Ng then informed the elves that the Wayhouse was closed and sealed the planar breach behind him as he returned to the First World, leaving behind just a pinprick to keep the manor's magic functional.1

Soon after Ng's departure, Izera's servants discovered that the manor has been subtly altered, and there are cryptic inscriptions on the walls only visible to humanoids. Izera believes that these clues might be the key to release the breachblade or lift the poludnicas' condition, and sometimes lures humanoids to the Wayhouse, offering them significant magical wealth if they could solve the puzzle.1
