Orvgates are powerful magical devices capable of the targeted teleportation of creatures from one Orvian Vault to another. On planets other than Golarion, orvgates are also known as vaultgates.

Appearance

An orvgate is a machine built from crystal, metal, and stone that serves as the base of an inverted green funnel, which is made of a material resembling crystalline spider webs. An orvgate can be accompanied by a map of the Orvian Vaults, and can have control surfaces (such as stone spheres and levers) embedded nearby.

History

Orvgates were created by the Vault Builders, rulers of the xiomorns, an ancient civilization that also created the Orvian Vaults in the deepest Darklands.

The operator of an orvgate employs its control surfaces to select part of another vault, target a creature within that vault, and teleport that creature into the same location as the orvgate.
