Qurashith,1 also known as gluttonwings, are fearsome flying predators that hunt in the upper reaches of the cavern-worlds of Gluttondark.2

Appearance

Qurashith are monstrous flying predators with some physical similarly to common flying animals such as bats, but close examination of a qurashith's body shows it to be an amalgamation of the creature's original flesh and that of its various victims, which are bound together by webs of demonic scar tissue and sticky, acidic pus.2

Ecology

Qurashith are aggressive predators. Unlike mundane hunters, they consume their prey's body and soul alike and incorporate both into themselves. Their victims' personalities are eventually broken down and metabolized, but particularly powerful or charismatic individuals may exert a degree of control over the qurashith for a short period of time before they are also digested. Despite lacking any true form of civilization, qurashith are social creatures that flock and lair together and are known to even hunt in groups. Qurashith communicate with each other by forcing the voices of the victims incorporated into their bodies to call out to one another.2

In the Great Beyond

Qurashith lair chiefly in high places within the world-sized caverns of Gluttondark, Zevgavizeb's realm in the Outer Rifts. Large populations exist in the realm of Vorat'kul, where they lair within the numerous dark recesses and crevasses of the realm's mazes of cliffs and rock formations. Great flocks of qurashith emerge during the months in which Vorat'kul's moon eclipses its sun, hunting anything that moves, and forcing the realm's xulgath inhabitants to retreat within heavily fortified cities dug within the rock until the sun appears again and the qurashith return to their lairs.3
