The legendary Rowan Rifle is a star gun that also serves as the insignia of sovereign dominion over the Arcadian nation of Briarbough. 12 As of 4723 AR the firearm's fey custodians had not awarded it to anyone, resulting in ongoing conflicts in Briarbough.2

History

Prior to Earthfall, a djezet meteorite crashed into a forest in western Arcadia. The poisonous skymetal killed most of the surrounding plant life except for a single rowan tree, which absorbed the alien material until it was fully infused.1

The unique tree was then discovered by fey bowyers intrigued by its properties, who cultivated its branching trunks into forming two twisted, naturally rifled barrels and crafted it into a magic-powered star gun designed to protect Arcadia's fey.1

Abilities

The Rowan Rifle cannot harm a fey creature and misfires upon any attempt to use it toward that end. While typically emitting magical fire, a fey wielder—or any person deemed a worthy champion of the fey—can convert its output to cold, electricity, and sonic forces, or entangle its targets in vines of rapidly hardening liquid djezet.1

As part of the Rifle's dominion over Briarbough, its chosen wielder can also tree stride through the nation's forests.1
