Petrograd was the Imperial capital of Russia, and lies on the Neva River in the north-western region of that vast nation on the distant planet of Earth. Today, it is a major city in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic.
The city was originally called Saint Petersburg, until AD 1914 when it was changed to Petrograd to remove any German language from the the name of the city; in 1914, Russia had gone to war with the German Empire.
