The town of Sze is one of the settlements scattered throughout the desolate, monster-haunted land of Shenmen.1 It has been ruled for centuries by a cruel ghostly governor named Chou Mingxia, whose pointless pursuit of lumber is driven by her refusal to acknowledge the fall of Lung Wa.2

History

In 7062 IC, Chou Mingxia ordered her son to harvest a sugi tree at Willowshore. He fails, and he and his crew are transformed into undead who assault Willowshore and are repelled. The event becomes known as the Night of Broken Blades.3

In 7107 IC, a year after the Age of Lost Omens begins and Lung Wa collapses, the jorogumo Lang Loi seized control of Shenmen. Chou Mingxia was subsequently slain but rose as a ghost and continued to rule her town.3
