Talk:Behemoth
Contradictory in canon (resolved)
There are no canon sources cited in this article. Aside from the generic use of behemoth to describe large creatures, most canon Pathfinder creatures that have "behemoth" in their name—including one listed in {{Behemoth species navbox}}—don't align with the article's description as beings of divine retribution. This includes Pathfinder First Edition creatures called behemoths that lack the behemoth subtype.
- Ravener behemoths are First World creatures that deities task mortals with destroying. They are 1E creatures but lack the behemoth subtype.
- Shanrigol behemoths from Hands of the Devil are large shanrigols.
- Bhanyada behemoths from The Choosing are large bhanyadas.
- Fetch behemoths from Kingmaker Bestiary are large fetches. The 1E version lacks the behemoth subtype.
- Excorion behemoths from Sixty Feet Under and Book of the Dead are large excorions.
- Behemoth hippopotamuses from Bestiary 2 (2E) are large hippopotamuses.
- Large Nexian Fleshforge cataphract fleshwarps are called behemoths in Impossible Lands.
- Unique creatures such as The Behemoth from The Fall of Plaguestone or the Ivory Behemoth fossil golem from Burning Tundra.
This ambiguity sometimes results in incorrect usage, such as on Psomeira or Portal:Religion. -Oznogon (talk) 19:44, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- Also, the only two canon appearances of tempest and thunder behemoths that I can find are solely mechanical. The thunder behemoth's statblock is used to simulate a summoned Spawn of Rovagug in Inner Sea Gods, and the tempest behemoth is only a statblock reference as one of the creatures captured by Alaznist for invasion purposes in Rise of New Thassilon. Neither mention confirms any Bestiary details in context. -Oznogon (talk) 19:51, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
The ravener behemoth article in The Twice-Damned Prince fully contradicts the Bestiary description of behemoth origins and behaviors, describing them as neglected remnants of the creation of the First World instead of instruments of divine retribution. As a Tier 1 canon source, this should supplant the non-canon contents of this article. -Oznogon (talk) 19:57, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- Replaced the article's non-canon content with the description of behemoths from Twice-Damned Prince. To view the article prior to the replacement, see revision 289270. -Oznogon (talk) 20:06, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
