Talk:Higashiyama Shigure

Deleted information

In the last edit by User:HTD, the following quoted information and canon refs were all deleted. Not sure what to do with this. I think the refs should be preserved for those with those books and the text reworked so it can be reincorporated with the later material, but have not read the end of Jade regent and probably we are in spoiler territory here too. --Fleanetha (talk) 14:55, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Emperor Shigure Higashiyama is the current nominal ruler of the volatile Minkai Empire on the continent of Tian Xia.1 He is currently being held against his will at the family compound of the Higashiyama clan, just outside the capital city of Kasai. He was brought there in 4705 AR following his coronation, supposedly for his own protection.2 The family clan has replaced Shigure with a temporary ruler to quell the instability arising in the country, called the Jade Regent. The Jade Regent is, however, proving quite unpopular and levels of unrest are again rising in the country.1 Despite growing dissent among the populace for tax increases and a rise in police brutality, the Higashiyama family continues to staunchly defend the Jade Regent.3
According to the last volume of Jade Regent, all of that is propaganda, and the events in the current article are what really happened. - HTD (talk) 15:02, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification - we should probably leave it in then but explain it rather than a raw deletion. That helps people who don't have the AP but do have the other sources and come to the wiki from that angle. I shall immediately apply a spoiler badge!! --Fleanetha (talk) 17:12, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
I've restored some of the deleted content within the article's context and expanded the spoiler badge. This starts to bump up against our spoiler policy:
A general rule of thumb is that if an average character, local NPC, or mid-level sage would not have the information in question, it is probably a spoiler to someone.
Almost nobody in the setting would know the added information unless the events of Jade Regent had already played out, although 2E will soon force our hands on this anyway. -Oznogon (talk) 17:49, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
Many thanks Oznogon. --Fleanetha (talk) 17:55, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
