Talk:Star Tower

Origins [Completed]

I'm confused by this article. It claims that Zon-Kuthon erected the Star Towers to confine Rovagug.

Accepting the fact that it wasn't Asmodeus who sealed Ravogug away, Zon-Kuthon could not have existed at this time, since he was Dou-Bral at this time. Thoughts? FaithfulofAroden 09:09, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Its been a while since I read it, but maybe Plague of Shadows had some point of view issues, and the history here is how it was presented to the protagonist? All the gods teamed up to fight Ravogug, I believe, so the creation of he star towers very well could have been a combined effort of multiple deities... Might be worth throwing the conflict template on the article. Was the "before the entity known as Zon-Kuthon emerged from the Outer Darkness" meant to give a time for the beginning or the end of the conflict? Perhaps Zon-Kuthon emerged the day after Rovagug decided he was going to destroy the world, and was strong enough by the end of the fight to assist in the star towers' creation... I'm not sure ( I also don't have the books in front of me right now to check the wording). -- Cpt kirstov 17:27, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
As original author, I have gone back and checked the sources from which I took the data and it does look correct as written here and, note, there is a reference from the ISWG too not just a novel. Whether there is a wider conflict, from memory, Asmodeus has the key to the prison - that key is not necessarily the same as the seal provided by the Star Towers. What we should have perhaps is a line in the page distinguishing Asmodeus' work from Z-K's. On the timing issue, that needs research and some counter references. Is it worth raising on the Paizo forum?--Fleanetha 19:20, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
I have posted a query on the Paizo forums. In the meantime, I found a good reference in Skeletons of Scarwall. It seems the Startowers (assuming they're all roughly the same age) pre-date ancient empires like Thassilon. Logically then, I'd suggest that Zon-Kuthon must have constructed them before his exile to the Shadow Plane. FaithfulofAroden 14:39, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
Success! James Jacobs has informed me that The Star Towers were built while Zon-Kuthon was Dou-Bral. That explains a lot.FaithfulofAroden 00:41, 21 March 2012 (UTC)1
Excellent investigation Faithful - thanks--Fleanetha 09:59, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
Nidal, Land of Shadows confirms this in a published source. -Oznogon (talk) 02:08, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
