Template talk:Badges
Rename
Now that we have achievement badges, we may want to change the name of this template. It's fairly easy to do with one of the bots and once we decide on a name, I can make the change in a matter of minutes. โ yoda8myhead 16:27, July 19, 2010 (UTC)
- I've been contemplating this for a couple of days. It may be meta enough that we needn't bother. I say we don't worry about it unless it becomes confusing for people. โaeakett 13:12, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
Spoiled section badge (RESOLVED)
The spoiled badge always warns that "This page contains spoilers", without an equivalent for separate sections. I propose adding another badge specifically for spoiling a section of a page, which clarifies that "This section contains spoilers". It might also be helpful to visually distinguish such a badge from the page spoiler through a different icon or background color as an immediately recognizable difference for readers and editors alike. --Rexert (talk) 04:34, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- Nah, the badge should probably either be parameterized differently, or converted to a {{Notice}} that adds the badge. All of this is legacy behavior from when the badge couldn't be moved. (It also still isn't inaccurate in saying the article contains spoilers; it does.) -Oznogon (talk) 04:53, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- Once upon a time, {{Badges}} put the banner at the top of the article no matter where it was added in the markup, and adding it multiple times to a page could cause problems. A few years ago, User:Virenerus made it possible to add multiple {{Badges}} templates to a single article, and badges like spoiled that emit banners could be placed where the banner should appear in the markup.
- If you see badges at the top of an article, and that spoiled badge should obviously instead be in a section, that means the badge was probably added before that was possible (which was a very long part of the wiki's existence). Moving the spoiled badge in that case is great, please do it, no discussion necessary. Adding another badge won't solve that problem, it's already solved.
- Broader spoiler policy discussion at PathfinderWiki talk:Spoilers. Resolving in favor of Template talk:Spoiler as a badge isn't the solution. -Oznogon (talk) 21:23, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
