Turpin Rowe is a small logging town on the Isle of Kortos managed by the Yalbrough Consortium of Absalom. Its economy is driven by the lumber trade1 but derives its name from the nearby distillation of turp spirits.2

Geography

Turpin Rowe is located in the southern Swardlands of the Isle of Kortos, near the edge of the Immenwood. The forest once surrounded the town but is now more than a mile clear of it after 30 years of systematic logging.31

Roads connect Turpin Rowe to Castinlee, Arbo, and Cawshax, the latter of which is about seven miles away.3 The Merovan Road continues south of the town into the Immenwood,4 and a road leads to the turp spirits distillery four miles southeast of town within the wood.2

Government

Turpin Rowe is owned and operated by the Yalbrough Consortium, and the people who live here own neither their homes nor the land. A dwarf named Ikener represents the Yalbrough Consortium and is the town's commissioner. He frets constantly about reporting its declining productivity to his superiors.1

While Turpin Rowe does not participate in the Kerrick Grange cooperative as most of the farmers in the Swardlands do, it is still provided with provisions through an agreement between the grange and the Yalborough Consortium and enjoys a close relationship with Kerrick.5

People

The town holds an annual two-week celebration of the lumber industry called the Stump Festival, during which lumberers from the town compete for the title of Top Stumper.3
