Matten Cleave is a town in the Swardlands of the Isle of Kortos used primarily by local farmers for transporting crops to the port of Kerrick and buying agricultural supplies. It is located near the northwestern shore of the Isle of Kortos on the Inner Sea, northeast of Kerrick.

Geography

The town has several storehouses to facilitate its transport of crops to Kerrick, and also has a wainwright and two blacksmiths. The Sea of Clover inn and tavern is well-regarded, and the town has a large flat shelf of land that serves as a gathering point.

The Verdant Passage road connects Matten Cleave to both Kerrick, located about 8 miles to the southwest, and to points northeast. The shoony village of Ferny and the Wellspring Tower are east of town. A farm believed to be haunted by a cruel farmer named Currew, who died in 4719 AR, is about two miles south of the town.

Government

Matten Cleave is lightly overseen by Marta Lieschari, who facilitates farming operations on behalf of the Kerrick Grange but otherwise does little else.

History

The town has little identity of its own, though as of 4720 AR rumors suggested it was cursed and blighted by its proximity to Wellspring Tower.
