The Promise of the Unyielding is the herald of the deity Arazni, where he primarily represents the Unyielding to other deities.1 He was formerly known as the Hand of the Inheritor, herald of the warrior-goddess Iomedae, until he was captured and tortured by the demon lord Baphomet during the Fifth Mendevian Crusade. After the end of the war, Iomedae replaced him with the mortal Crusader Queen Galfrey of Mendev.234

Appearance

Promise resembles a massive angel constantly surrounded by a halo of spinning blades.2

History

Before Aroden's disappearance, he was known as the Hand of Vengeance and a servant of the Empyreal Lord of vengeance Ragathiel, but became a valorous and civil servant of Iomedae, whom he referred to as "the Just Queen of Heaven".2

He referred to his halo of swords as an independent creature named "Brightsword", and used it as a spiked shield or could summon from it a longsword.2

After being recovered from Baphomet's imprisonment and torture, his golden armor turned into ivory, his helm cracked, and his wings were blackened. Arazni raised Queen Galfrey as his relief, and Hand became the herald of the recently ascended deity Arazni, where he was rechristened Promise of the Unyielding. It is not known whether Promise left Iomedae by her command or of his own volition.1
