Herbs are a group of plants, excluding vegetables, with savoury or aromatic properties that are used for flavouring and garnishing food, for medicinal purposes, or for fragrances and other cosmetics.

Culinary use

Culinary use typically distinguishes herbs from spices. Herb generally refers to the leafy green or flowering parts of a plant (either fresh or dried), while spices are usually dried and produced from other parts of the plant, including seeds, bark, roots and fruits. In the Inner Sea region, spices and herbs like basil, coriander, dill, fennel, marjoram, oregano, parsley, rosemary, tarragon, thyme, and others are often used in dishes together with citrus fruits and nightshade.

Herbs may be used to flavour alcoholic drinks such as the popular Rusty Cutlass from Ilizmagorti. It is a herb liqueur mixed with whiskey and honey that costs about 8 cp.

Teas can be made from boiling herbs.
