A bullet is a component of ammunition for firearms,12 though the term is also sometimes used for sling ammunition: sling bullets.3 Whether for firearms14 or slings,5 bullets are typically crafted as small balls made of metals, often lead.

When fired from a firearm, the bullet is the projectile that travels at a high velocity from its barrel. Additional components, such as black powder propellant and wadding, are either packaged together into a cartridge or packed in individually and manually. Firearm bullets or cartridges are also called rounds.2

Bullets or cartridges for repeating firearms are loaded together into a magazine for rapid loading.6 The size of a firearm's bore determines its caliber, which defines the size of bullet used in that weapon.7

On Golarion

Bullets, like firearms, are scarce in many parts of Golarion, and some gunslingers who travel learn how to create their own.8 When available for purchase, a single bullet can cost on average 1 gold piece.1

In addition to lead, bullets can also be crafted from many other materials, including rare metals such as adamantine, cold iron, and silver;9 bullets crafted from liquified and highly refined rare metals are also known as awakened metal shot.10 The Gilded Gunners gang of Alkenstar encases some bullets in magic-infused gold that can slightly curve the path of a shot.11

Bullet-firing weapons are a focus of monastic martial artists known as bullet dancers12 and the extravagant performers known as pistol phenoms.13

In magic

Bullets can be enhanced by magic just as other forms of ammunition.2 Gunslingers known as spellshots enrich their bullets with magical enchantments, and some can magically conjure short-lived bullets from nothing. However, spellshots are rare in the Inner Sea region where the center of firearm usage is in the magic-less Mana Wastes.14
